Description
The organic chestnut honey from Apicoltura Avìe by Simone Coppola is produced by bringing our hives to the mountain areas of Val Varaita, in Piedmont, usually between the months of June and July. Production takes place naturally, without the use of pesticides or chemical substances and following an ethic aimed at respecting nature and bees. Bees collect nectar from chestnut flowers and turn it into honey inside the hive. Subsequently, we extract the honey from the hives and package it for sale in our laboratory in La Morra, in the Langhe area. The organic chestnut honey from Apicoltura Avìe represents the second or third harvest of the season and the honey extraction ends in mid-summer.
Characteristics
Organic chestnut honey is a dark colored honey, from yellow-amber to almost black. It has an intense and pungent flavour, a scent reminiscent of wood and herbs and a bitterish taste which can vary in intensity depending on the year of production.
